I've been travelling a lot lately, which is wonderful, I would do this almost all the time, every weekend and at least twice a month a bigger vacation.
I am aloud to dream, yes?
I will tell you all about my journeys and the wonderful places I've seen, but in this article I want to talk about something else. Travelling is a gift you give yourself, that is for sure. It fills you up with fresh energy, it re-charges your exhausted batteries, even if you don't rest much in vacation. Seeing new places with beautiful landscapes, having new experiences and getting to know different cultures, all these have a revitalizing effect.
And then, all of a sudden, all that fresh energy stops, you are back and a strange feeling takes over. People say that it is post-vacation depressive syndrome. I don't argue, maybe it is. But, I believe it is important to overcome this and the best way to do that is to view your everyday life with the same enthusiasm, thrill and relaxation at the same time, as you encountered everyday of your vacation.
In my case, there was also another feeling I got after vacation, a feeling I could not put my finger on until yesterday. It was like a sadness, an emptiness inside but that could not be justified in any way. And then it hit me from where it was coming. As I said, travelling is a gift you give yourself and people that travel are really lucky.
Travelling most of the time, means seeing the most beautiful places on earth from a bubble. The good feeling of travelling makes you forget that this world is far from perfect, and although you worked hard to have that beautiful holiday, there are still people out there that put a lot of effort also, but are not that lucky, they don't get that vacation.
When I realized from where that feeling of sadness and emptiness was coming, I decided I needed to do something good for humanity, but I still didn't know what.. I want something that could really make a difference. Of course, donating some of the clothes you don't use, giving some food to someone in need or being involved in a humanitarian organization is a very good thing, but I felt like I wanted to do more, a persistent change.
And then I realized, that with all the stress I had at work and the struggle to also find time for my self, I forgot the most important thing and one of the reasons I started this blog. And that is the fact that you can make a difference everyday, by choosing to be kinder and have a let-me-help you attitude with everyone you interact with, from your clients to your colleagues, friends and family.
Show patience with others, try to bring some comfort with your every action and be human. Also, don't forget your self in this equation. Inspire others to do the same.
Be kind, warm and show patience always, even at work! This does not slow down productivity, it enhances it! Loosing the human factor at work can have a detrimental effect. Not too mention, loosing this between friends, family or even people you interact with at the grocery store, in the metro, at the gym and so on. We are all playing the same game and our suffering and needs are more or less the same.

Always remember to be human! And from time to time, besides the sunshine you try to bring to the people you interact day to day, try to bring a sunshine to someone else, someone in need - by giving a free meal or some of the clothes you don't use anymore or just helping someone else with something without expecting anything in return.
