One very important aspect of health is detoxification.

The body already has in place functions and processes in charge of detoxification (the liver is mostly in charge of this), yet from time to time is good to also aid it.

There are many detoxifying diets out there and you should choose the one that fits you the most. Here I will present the ones that I love and enjoy.

  • Juice Detox

This implies drinking only juice and not eating anything. The juice can be made of any fruit you want but it definitely needs to be fresh, not processed.

You can do only orange juice, pomegranate juice, beet juice, lime and cucumber juice or lime and honey and water or any other fruit or mix of fruits you want.

For best results you should keep this diet for at least 3-7 consecutive days.

You can also choose to do this 1 day per week or 1 day every 3 days.

You need to feel your body, your organism and see what and how is best for you.

  • Vegetarian Detox

To be honest this should be a daily life style diet, but I will recommend it as a detox method for those finding very hard to make this a daily choice.

It is very simple, this diet implies no meat, no fish, no animal-origin food, only vegetable-base products. There are also some variations that allow the consumption of fish or eggs. You can also opt for those variations.

It’s best to be followed for 7 consecutive days and then try to do this diet 1-2 days per week until you are able to make it an everyday lifestyle.

  • Water fasting

There are many studies that show how healthy fasting is. Fasting helps to fight against any disease and even against cancer. Fasting for enough time can kill viruses, destroy cancer cells, helps to balance the body functions, creating anti-bodies and boosting the immune system.

There are many types of fasting. Even the vegetarian diet is a type of fasting. The word “breakfast” comes from the fact that we are doing a fasting every day when we stop eating dinner and at least 8h pass before we eat breakfast in the morning.

Water fasting means drinking only water and not eating or drinking anything else, not even juice, tea or coffee. If it’s very hard for you to stay without coffee, you can drink your coffee and continue with the water fasting, however for best results it should be only water.

This kind of fasting should be done at least 1 day per week in the beginning and then gradually try to do it for as many consecutive days as possible.

  • Dry fasting

It’s very simple; you don’t eat or drink anything. It’s very simple but very hard in the beginning, yes.

You should start with the vegetarian detox diet and then start doing water fasting and gradually stop drinking water also to do the dry fasting.

Dry fasting is recommended for as many hours you can keep going. Ideally, this should be done for at least 24h per week and then you can gradually increase the time and reach being able to keep this fasting for as many days as you choose.

Remember, the aim is not to torture or heavy force your body, but to make it strong. So during any detox diet if you start feeling sick, nauseous, dizzy or almost faint – put the diet on hold immediately, drink water, eat some fresh vegetables, fruits, soup or drink some soothing tea.

Before trying any detox diet, if you have any serious medical condition, please first consult your doctor.

Other than that, learn to listen, understand, know and love your body. Detox, boost your immune system and keep healthy!
