There are many studies saying too much salt is not good for your health, which is true but totally removing salt from your diet is not healthy either. Salt is actually good for your health and helps the immune system when it is consumed with moderation.
According to the Lung Institute, salt is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, helps to loosen excessive mucus, removes pathogens and decreases immune system oversensitivity.
The most therapeutic salt is the Pink Himalayan Salt.
Here are a few ways in which you can use salt to improve health and boost the immune system:
Salt baths
Be it you choose to only quickly soak your feet or the entire body in saltwater, both are equally therapeutic. This helps to remove toxins and re-balance the inner functions of your body.
Of course, most therapeutic is an ocean swim or ocean natural pool or any natural salt baths that can be found near known lakes. Still, very therapeutic is a simple home bath with natural salt (again preferably Pink Himalayan salt).
Saltwater gargle
It is recommended to do saltwater gargle both in the morning and in the evening before going to bed. Salt draws water out of oral tissues and creates a salt barrier locking harmful pathogens from getting inside. Saltwater gargle helps in blocking viruses and bacteria and prevents any mouth or throat infections as well as relieving inflammation. Use this remedy with confidence every day for treating or preventing sore throat, sinus and respiratory infections, allergies and of course is a very good dental care.
Saltwater flush
A glass of saltwater on an empty stomach helps to cleanse the colon, treat chronic constipation and is a very good overall detox method for your entire body.
To prepare this you should add Pink Himalayan salt in a glass with water until the salt no longer dissolves. Then add 1 teaspoon of this mixture to 1 full glass of water and drink this on an empty stomach. Wait for at least 30 minutes before drinking/eating anything else.
Note: This should not be an everyday habit. Try to use this once every three months. It also has a laxative effect.
Himalayan Salt Lamps
When used as a lamp, Himalayan Salt can trap dust and allergens before they reach your body, cleans the air and has many more beneficial effects. There is no real scientific proof that it really cleans the air, yet many people as myself use it and are content by the results. I feel they are very relaxing and they bring a soothing atmosphere which give you a good state of mind and so helps improve the immune system for sure.
Choose your salt remedy and definitely include it in your health plan.
